Historic Rollins Farmstead Rehabilitation
Originally constructed in 1888 by John Rollins, this historic farmstead was home to one of Des Moines’ earliest settler families. It subsequently became the home and veterinary practice of a doctor, who offered up the property’s barn to the newly established Animal Rescue League. The new 3-car garage was designed to sit on the same footprint as the original barn!
In the 1960s, the home was subdivided into multiple apartments before being vacated due to structural issues and deferred maintenance.
Sequel worked with the developer and contractor to restore this historic home to its original grandeur, while fully updating to align with modern sensibilities. The home now features open rooms, flowing spaces, two primary suites, and a second floor laundry. Sequel provided integrated architecture, interior design, and construction administration services.
